A hybrid Zephyranthes with one of the most distinctive colour combinations in the genus — soft buttery yellow petals edged with a delicate picotee apricot blush that wraps elegantly around the back of each petal as well as the front. In a genus where yellows are typically solid-coloured, the two-tone effect of Kings Ransom is immediately striking.
Mid-size flowers 5–6 cm on strap-like foliage. Flowers very well through summer and autumn after rain in full sun to part shade. Multiplies via offsets and prefers to be somewhat crowded. Pollen can be used in crosses with other Zephyranthes — a useful parent for anyone working toward apricot or warm-toned hybrids in their own breeding programme.
