Every order is checked before it leaves the farm
Every order is checked by hand before it's packed. Seeds, bulbs, corms, tubers and plants are inspected for health, firmness and condition. Every seed batch is germination tested before it goes on sale, either by us or by our trusted wholesale seed suppliers.
Caring for your seeds after delivery
Seed is alive, and how it's stored has a big effect on how well it germinates. Heat and humidity shorten seed life quickly. Please store seed in a cool, dry, dark place, in a sealed container if you can, and away from sheds, cars, kitchens and windowsills where temperatures swing. Sow within the recommended season or as soon as practical. Seed that has been stored in warm or humid conditions may not germinate as well as when it left us.
What to expect from bulbs, corms, tubers and plants
Bulbs, corms and tubers are often sent while dormant. They may look dry, have papery skins or show no leaves or roots, and this is normal. Dormant bulbs, corms and tubers may not grow roots, leaves or flowers until conditions are right for them, such as the appropriate season, temperature, moisture and light. Plants can drop a few leaves or look tired after travelling in the post. Give them water, shade and a week or two to settle before judging them.
Growing results
Once your order arrives, how it grows depends on conditions we can't see or control. These include the seed raising mix, potting mix or soil, watering (too much or too little), fertilising (too much or too little), light, temperature, sowing depth, timing, pests, disease and how items are stored after delivery. For that reason, we can't promise particular germination rates, flowering or growing results in your garden.
Change of mind
Because these are living, perishable goods and biosecurity rules can often restrict sending plant material between states, we don't offer refunds or returns for change of mind. This includes ordering the wrong variety, no longer wanting an item, or being unable to plant it in time.
If something isn't right on arrival
Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If anything is damaged, incorrect, missing or not in good condition, please email us within 7 days of delivery so we can sort it out while the details are fresh. Include:
- your order number
- clear photos of the item and the packaging
- a short description of the problem
Please don't post plant material back to us unless we ask. Most issues can be resolved from photos.
If you think a seed batch is faulty
Because every batch is tested before sale, we'll ask for a few details to help work out what's happened:
- your order number
- when and how you sowed (mix, sowing depth, temperature, watering)
- how and where the seed was stored before sowing
- photos of your trays or pots
How we resolve genuine problems
If an item is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, we'll replace it or refund it. If you'd prefer store credit, we're happy to offer that instead. We won't be responsible for problems caused after delivery by storage, handling or growing conditions, as allowed under the Australian Consumer Law.
Lost parcels
If your tracking shows no movement or your order hasn't arrived within the expected time, contact us and we'll follow it up with Australia Post. Often waiting an extra week to account for frequent extended delays with Australia Post, or checking with partners and housemates, resolves most problems.
Refunds
Approved refunds are made to your original payment method. Your bank may take a few business days to process it.
