White Lisbon Spring Onion is a quick-to-grow and easy-to-harvest classic heirloom variety. It’s one we have grown every season for many years. It produces slender white stems with fresh green tops and a mild, crisp onion flavour.
We wash, chop and freeze ours for easy adding to stir-fries, soups, etc. It’s even lovely added to the rice cooker after adding rice and water (other nice additions are pre-chopped frozen veg, peas, beans, diced zucchini, etc.) for a super easy dinner option when busy 😅😋.
These onions are also perfect for salads and garnishes. Plants can be harvested individually as spring onions or left slightly longer for thicker stems. They have a nice long harvesting window, or you can harvest and freeze the lot to free up bed space.
I find they grow beautifully in little groups of 3–5 seeds per plug.
