Seed grown and collected at Our Mountain Garden, Tamborine Mountain QLD.
A beautiful older heirloom bush bean believed to have its roots in Mexico and the American Southwest. Painted Pony produces striking brown-and-cream seeds that resemble paint and pinto horses and ponies, making it as attractive in the seed jar as it is productive in the garden.
A versatile dual-purpose variety, it can be harvested as a tender snap bean or left to mature into richly flavoured dry beans for soups, stews and winter cooking. The compact bush habit makes it easy to grow without staking and suitable for both garden beds and larger containers.
