Seed grown and collected at Our Mountain Garden,
A beautiful older heirloom bush bean believed to have its roots in Mexico and the American Southwest. Painted Pony produces striking brown-and-cream seeds that resemble paint and pinto horses and ponies, making it as attractive in the seed jar as it is productive in the garden.
A very versatile dual-purpose variety. The compact bush habit makes it easy to grow without staking and suitable for both garden beds and larger containers. Harvest pods as a fresh snap bean, pick plump green pods for fresh shelling beans, or allow pods to fully mature and dry on the plant for richly flavoured dry beans great for soups, stews and winter cooking.
