WhiteGold Max is a newer F1 African Marigold variety (Tagetes erecta), bred primarily as a garden, bedding and container type. It's still useful in a cutting garden or for small bouquets. It received recognition from Fleuroselect as an innovative new African marigold. Its unusual pale colouring, large fully double flowers and excellent flower form helped set it apart from traditional marigolds.
It produces large, fully double blooms in an unusual soft creamy-white to white, with well-branched plants carrying plenty of flowers. One of the particularly useful characteristics of WhiteGold Max is its tight flower form and good resistance to rain damage, helping the blooms hold their shape better in wet conditions.
While it wasn't specifically bred as a professional cut flower marigold, its substantial flowers and attractive form make it a very worthwhile addition to the cutting garden, smaller bouquets and arrangements.
Our first tray has been sown and germination has been fantastic, so while I'm waiting for our OMG-grown photos, the photos we have are from the original breeder.
