Seed grown and collected at Our Mountain Garden
Jacob’s Cattle is an heirloom bush bean, famous for its distinctive white seeds splashed with deep burgundy-red markings and its high yields of creamy, rich, nutty beans that hold their shape during cooking, making them a premium choice for many dishes. Jacob’s Cattle is one of our most productive and reliable bean varieties, consistently producing heavy crops that store well and cook beautifully. It is a much-loved bean that we have grown since 2009.
This variety traces back to Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada and has long been treasured and widely shared for its productivity, storage qualities, and excellent eating characteristics. The beans are excellent in soups, stews, casseroles, and traditional slow-cooked dishes, and can also be eaten young as a fresh bean.
