Haricot Crevette is a traditional French heirloom bush bean grown for its excellent shell and dry beans. The name translates to “shrimp bean”, referring to the attractive salmon-pink colouring of the fresh shell beans. Compact plants produce generous crops without the need for staking, making this an easy and rewarding variety for home gardeners. It is a very reliable variety that we have enjoyed growing since 2009.

Originally developed in French kitchen gardens, Haricot Crevette is highly regarded for its rich flavour, creamy texture, and ability to hold its shape beautifully during cooking. The attractive beans look beautiful stored in the pantry and develop a wonderfully creamy texture when cooked. Excellent in soups, stews, casseroles and traditional French-style dishes

Growing Guide

Plant Type: Bush bean

Sowing: Direct sow after all risk of frost has passed and soil is warm

Depth: 2–3 cm

Spacing: 10–15 cm between plants

Row Spacing: 45–60 cm

Position: Full sun

Days to Harvest: Approx. 55–70 days for shell beans, longer for dry beans

25 seeds per packet. Untreated seed grown and saved at Our Mountain Garden, Tamborine Mountain QLD.
