Seed grown and collected at Our Mountain Garden.

A strikingly beautiful heirloom dry bean known for its distinctive black and white split seed pattern and occasionally dot, resembling the classic yin-yang symbol. It's grown both for its visual appeal and very reliable performance. Also known around the world as Calypso or Orca.

Yin-Yang is an heirloom bean of Phaseolus vulgaris selected and maintained through seed saving communities for their appearance, garden reliability and usefulness as a kitchen bean. Yin-Yang is one of those beans that always stands out in the kitchen pantry thanks to its bold black and white seed pattern. In our garden it has proven to be a reliable productive bean.

It can be eaten young when very tender and is richly flavoured but we primarily grow it as a dry bean for storage and kitchen use where it excels. Beans cook to a creamy texture with a mild, smooth flavour - excellent in soups, stews, casseroles and mixed bean dishes. Harvest when pods are fully mature and dry on the plant
