Seed grown and collected at Our Mountain Garden.

Yin-Yang is a strikingly beautiful old heirloom bean known for its distinctive black-and-white split seed pattern, often resembling the classic yin-yang symbol.  Also known around the world as Calypso or Orca.

Selected and maintained through seed-saving communities. It can be eaten young when very tender, but we primarily grow it as a dry bean for kitchen use, where it excels. The beans cook to a creamy texture with a mild, smooth flavour, making them excellent in soups, stews, casseroles, and mixed bean dishes.
