Frost is a striking heirloom bean with UK heritage producing beautiful red and white mottled seeds, some with cute spots and speckles. Also known as Pea Bean or Red Yin-Yang. This variety is quite cold tolerant hence the name frost. It is one of two varieties we plant first and last to extend our bean season.
We use it mostly as a dry bean, however the young beans are tender and full of flavour while young. Frost is a semi-climbing to climbing form, meaning it’s a little crazy at times - it may grow as a compact climber or a more vigorous vine depending on support and overall conditions. Excellent for soups, stews and slow-cooked dishes.
25 seeds per packet - grown and saved at Our Mountain Garden, Tamborine Mountain QLD.
