Devon Salmon has become one of my favourite new dahlia's of the season here on Tamborine Mountain - a dusty salmon pink with an extraordinary depth of colour, great stems, great head attachment, and the kind of all-round performance that makes you immediately plan to grow more of it. I’m eagerly awaiting to see what the offspring from these seeds produce.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eDevon Salmon is a miniature decorative dahlia bred by Charles Smith of Tasmania - the Devon prefix being his well-regarded Australian breeding line. The blooms are a soft salmon pink with petals that reflex all the way back to the stem, giving each flower a full, rounded form that holds well in the vase. The colour is consistent through the season and the plant is a reliable producer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eGrowing Information\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eSowing time: \u003c\/b\u003eSeeds need warmth to germinate - soil temperature of at least 18°C, ideally 20-25°C.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eStarting method: \u003c\/b\u003eSow into seed raising mix in small pots or trays, covering seeds lightly with about 5mm of mix. The paper towel method also works well - place seeds between damp paper towels in a warm spot (20-25°C), check daily, and pot up as soon as you see a root emerge. Once sprouted, keep seedlings in good light to avoid leggy growth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eGermination: \u003c\/b\u003eTypically 7-14 days at 18-25°C.
