A beautiful colour that worked well in any bouquet.

Bracken Sequel is a small formal decorative dahlia bred by Neville Naumann from Bracken Ridge, Queensland - the Bracken prefix being his well-regarded Australian breeding line. The blooms carry a cool pink with purple overtones, delicate white tips on the petals, and the colour shifts through the season - running more purple early on and warming toward pink as the weeks pass. Strong stems, good form, and the kind of consistent production that makes her a reliable choice for cutting gardens and small-scale flower growers alike.

We’re hoping for long-season offspring that inherit that same reliable, all-season flowering habit.

Growing Information

Sowing time: Seeds need warmth to germinate - soil temperature of at least 18°C, ideally 20-25°C.

Starting method: Sow into seed raising mix in small pots or trays, covering seeds lightly with about 5mm of mix. The paper towel method also works well - place seeds between damp paper towels in a warm spot (20-25°C), check daily, and pot up as soon as you see a root emerge. Once sprouted, keep seedlings in good light to avoid leggy growth.

Germination: Typically 7-14 days at 18-25°C. Cooler conditions will slow germination considerably.

Planting out: Plant seedlings out once overnight temperatures are reliably above 10°C and all risk of frost has passed.

Position: Full sun

Happy Gardening

Carla 🌱
